Kickstarter Update #2

We wanted to say a quick thank you to our latest supporters of our Kickstarter campaign. You guys are helping make a brewery in Plymouth, Indiana by supporting Black Sail. Thanks for your contributions and backing. We'd love if you'd help us spread the word and get one step closer to opening our taproom in 2015. Cheers to you guys!

November Beer Tasting

Over 70 people attended the tasting and tried three of our beers. We had The Crescent Hefeweizen, the Black Sea Breakfast stout, and our 56 Day IPA on tap. As is typical at these events, we ran out of all our beer by the end of the evening!

While we're in the process of getting our space setup, preparing to launch a fundraising campaign, and developing new beers, we thought it would be great to design a couple shirts for our friends to wear to show their support of Black Sail.

What's In a Beer: Water (part 1)

What's In a Beer: Water (part 1)

Water. One of the most basic and required substances on earth. How appropriate then that it is the base for making beer?

What's In a Beer, Anyway?

Hey, guys. Josh here! If you're reading this, it is a good indicator you're interested in beer. To that, I say "cheers"!

Over the last few months, I've been talking with a lot of people about craft beer. When I get to talking to someone about beer who normally drinks one of the light lagers, they are suprised at all that goes into making a well-crafted beer and what can be done to make it even better. Many people don't realize what their beer is made of. They say you are what you eat, though I say you are what you drink. Why not drink well-crafted, high-quality beer?

In this five-part series, we will touch on the main ingredients that go into beer: water, grains, hops, and yeast. The final post will be a wrap-up post discussing serving temperatures, glassware, and more.

Grab your favorite craft beer, sit down, and read along! The first post on water will be up on Monday, April 14th!
